Yamaha GT2A midi on mac

Trouble with Synthesia, your keyboard, or adapter? Think you found a bug?
When describing problems, always mention your OS and game version (shown at the bottom of the title screen).

If your keyboard has USB or MIDI ports, there is a tremendously high chance (>99%) it will work with Synthesia. See what you'll need on the keyboards page.

I have a Yamaha GT2A which only has 1 receive channel so am having trouble getting 2 hand out put from Synthesia.
Using MacBook pro with latest OS and USB midi. Nicholas gave me a good work around for the PC using MIDI OX and LoopiB in the past but don't know how to route all midi chans into chan 1 on output with the Mac. any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

This is super convoluted, but:

Plug your GT2A into your PC, do the remapping-channels thing right in MIDI-OX (again), send it out to your network via rtpMIDI, and receive it on your Mac.

(I don't really recommend it though. There has got to be something like MIDI-OX for the Mac. I just don't know what it's called.)

Thanks Nicholas. Not sure how to do the network thing but the meantime I have used a midi editor to change the channel output for each song I want learn. Bit long winded to do my whole library but it ok for now. If there was a mac midiox it would be good. Hows the iPad app coming ? Cheers

Still a ton of work to do, but it's very exciting. This will easily be the most-different Synthesia has ever looked in the span of one release. Quite the face-lift. :D

Hello Nicholas.
Not sure if im posting this correctly in the forum, but, I was assisting as beta tester back in the ipad version development days. I have just re started using Synthesia recently and wanted to ask:
I have one of two midi files which I probably downloaded directly on to the ipad via Safari, I cant copy the files from the ipad via finder on a Mac. The finder shows the list of midi files on the ipad, and allows me to copy and paste them onto the mac but some of the files dont show in the finder list, but there is folder in the list which I am assuming is where the files are. However I cant find a way to access/open this folder to copy any files that are probably in it. Any ideas?

On the development side, have you considered allowing portrait mode on iPad, I'm thinking it could be good on the 12.9 inch iPad Pro?
Can the keyboard display be turned off so there are just falling notes with labels? - To give more real estate for the notes.
My mode of learning songs is to just watch and view, so as the notes have labels the keyboard display may not be needed.

Anyway I only really wanted to know how to access to Safari downloaded files!

Cheers

I know I'm three months late, sorry!

Is the folder named "Inbox"? I know a long time ago that was where files selected to "Open With..." an app went automatically. And, yes, for whatever reason the system doesn't seem to allow you to look inside the folder.

Since then a lot has changed (mostly with the introduction of the iOS Files app) and in more recent versions it works a little different. Songs that you choose to "Open in Synthesia" should now be placed in the root of its little storage area in the files app.

I don't have a good answer for the older-style Inbox folder, unfortunately. To the best of my knowledge those files are trapped in there unless I were to add a one-off export feature for older iPads that have been running Synthesia since the earlier days.

It used to be on the Synthesia 11 roadmap post (but was cut for now to try to beeline to the 11.0 release a little faster). That said, it's definitely still something I'd like to see. It makes a lot of sense with the sheet music view and with how large these screens have gotten over the years.

Yes: pause the song. That should make a small square pop out at the top-right corner of the on-screen keyboard. You can drag that square up or down to show or hide more of the keyboard, right down to hiding it completely.
