Mac Classroom Unlocker Not Working

Trouble with Synthesia, your keyboard, or adapter? Think you found a bug?
When describing problems, always mention your OS and game version (shown at the bottom of the title screen).

If your keyboard has USB or MIDI ports, there is a tremendously high chance (>99%) it will work with Synthesia. See what you'll need on the keyboards page.

Hi,

We've just purchased 15 licences of Synthesia for our keyboard lab to aid in a keyboard skills module. Unfortunately, the Classroom Unlocker Script isn't working. We are running M1 iMacs on Sonoma. We get the following message when running the script:
"/bin/sh: /private/var/folders/9c/ksgsdyss50l5dg35c23m7cp00000gp/T/AppTranslocation/527A5CA6-A4B0-43AE-8D5A-C6C6A24A43B1/d/ClassroomInstaller.app/Contents/MacOS/ClassroomInstaller: No such file or directory (127)"
This was run after installing and authorising Synthesia as the Admin on the computer.
Is there another way to get licence to all Users?

Thanks

Hi,

On further examination it seems that the problem is that the App is 32bit and the M2 Mac Studios and M1 iMacs that we need to use it on won't run it. Is it possible to get an updated Classroom Unlocker App that is 64bit and compatible? We've just spent $405 dollars on software that is currently unusable in our classroom.

Any ideas or a solution would be gratefully received.

Hi Jon,

Sorry for the wait on this. I just sent you an email with instructions on how to workaround not being able to run the Classroom Installer on macOS. I'm going to try and get that utility back up and running again shortly, but the instructions in the email should work for you today.

Please let me know if I can help with anything else!

I suspect this is too late to be useful, but I just posted new versions of the Classroom Installer tool for both Windows and Mac.

(Our development environment has changed considerably in the 9 years since the last update, so both versions had to be re-built essentially from the ground up.) :grimace:

In any event, the Mac version of the tool now supports 64-bit Intel and Apple silicon and is "notarized" the way Apple likes it these days, so it should work again. I also found a way to incorporate the required permission elevation right into the app, so the old "Run as Admin" script that was in the previous DMG file isn't necessary anymore.
